Mr Wandisile Grootboom

Mr Wandisile M Grootboom is a senior lecturer in clinical pharmacology at the Medical School, with 23 years of experience in pharmaceutical services in a public sector academic hospital, with 15 years of part-time lecturing experience in pharmacy programme at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University and 14 years of experience in Clinical Trials as a research pharmacist. His research interests are in Antimicrobial Stewardship, Mental Health and Health Economics with a preference for quantitative research.

He has successfully supervised 4 master’s and 1 honour’s research projects. He has co-authored and published 4 articles.

His teaching focus is on aspects of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of various agents that are used for medical conditions affecting various systems of the human body and uses active teaching approach to encourage participatory learning by students to make learning a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
